Android Library Project using Android Studio

Purpose: Android library at single place - Share across multiple projects

Following are the steps:
 1. Create new Android studio project. I have created one with name "Libraries"
 2. Create one new module File->New->New Module
     As shown in pic below, I have added one new module named "androidutils"
  1.

       We can create as many modules as we want. Each module will be like different library.
       We can create as many modules as we want. Each module will be like different library.

 3. Open the other project in Android Studio, where you want to use the library "androidutils"
      Change the navigation view to "Project"
  1.

      Open settings.gradle and make it look like below and Sync the gradle

      In above picture, we are telling gradle to include the module androidutils and also telling where to look           for that module

      After syncing gradle you would see your module in the navigator

      But at this point, you wont be able to use it in your app.

      Open your app's build.gradle. Highlighted one in below picture

      and add following line in dependencies section and sync again
     compile project(':androidutils')

      Now you should be able to use your library in your project

Tip: Keep Libraries project open in separate instance of Android Studio

BlueStacks keys mapping

Though the following settings if for Boom Beach. But below you will also find the general approach with which you can edit settings for any game you got in your box.

Boom Beach : Its really annoying that enter key doesn't send your messages in chat rather you have
to reach this chat icon   with your mouse and click on it.

So here is simple hack to make game play easier
In your BlueStacks, installation directory, find the following file and open it in a editor.

C:\ProgramData\BlueStacks\UserData\InputMapper\com.supercell.boombeach.cfg

No append following lines in [Keys] section

Enter = Tap (98,9)
Left = Tap (96,17)
Right = Tap (95,9)

Explanation:
First line will simulate tap on send message icon.
Second line will simulate opening chat action
Third line will simulate starting to type i.e. tapping on edit box.

Save it and you are to good to go.
If not tapping properly, edit co-ordinates with general approach.

General:
Finding file :
First thing is to find the file to edit. Just search with game name at below location and you will get your file.
C:\ProgramData\BlueStacks\UserData\InputMapper\
Key Mapping:
You can map any key with co-ordinates mentioned. Co-ordinates will play important role as it tells the mapper where to tap when mapped key is pressed on the keyboard.

So e.g. Enter = Tap (98,9), this will simulate tap on x:98 y:9 when enter key is pressed.

Finding proper co-ordinates

Its real simple. First of all enable Settings -> Developer options -> Pointer location
Now you should see x-y co-ordinates, each time you tap on screen. x-y basically tells where you have tapped.

Now in order to find the exact tap position, start with random co-ordinates like Enter = Tap (22,9)
Save the file and start the game. When game is loaded, try pressing enter and its pointer location will be shown on top as we have enabled Pointer location in dev options. Note these values and change the file accordingly like if your desired location is to right what you noted above then increase x value i.e.22 and if your desired value is below then increase the y value i.e. 9 and vice versa.

Hope it helped.

Note: Please don't ask me for any other games/apps settings.

Analysing Android files

In this post I'll simply be listing several tools to analyse (malicious) Android files.

All tools or scanners listed are free to use.

If you wish to analyze files from the Google Play store without actually installing/downloading them directly to your phone (or, for example, you don't use Android):

If you know of other free tools or scanners for Android files (.apk, .dex), do let me know.

Android Activity Life Cycle

Simple straight forward explanation to android activity life cycle

Learn Android
Learn Android

When you enter your app, the life cycle flow will be like this:

onCreate() -> onStart() -> onResume()

Now if you are using an intent to move from your current Activity to the next Activity, these are the methods of the current activity that will be executed:

onPause() -> onStop()

When you come back to the same activity(e.g., using back key event), these are the methods of the current activity that will be executed:

onStart() -> onResume()

And when you exit your app, the flow goes like this:

onPause() -> onStop() -> onDestroy()

Bitmap too large to be uploaded into a texture

Problem: “Bitmap too large to be uploaded into a texture”Got this error when I tried to run an application from eclipse to physical device.
On googling, found that it relates to some size limit of image for OpenGL hardware textures (2048x2048). But that wasn't the reason in my case. Actually in my case, image was less than 2048 for both x and y dimensions.

Analysis: I found that image was in drawable folder and Android system assumes drawable as mdpi and then take decision for scaling them down or up according to other resolutions.

Solution: Moved image to new folder named drawable-nodpi and the problem gone.

Android Color Codes

Android uses Hex ARGB values, which are formatted as #AARRGGBB. That first pair of letters, the AA, represent the Alpha Channel. You must convert your decimal opacity values to a Hexdecimal value. Here are the steps:

Alpha Hex Value Process

Take your opacity as a decimal value and multiply it by 255. So, if you have a block that is 50% opaque the decimal value would be .5. For example: .5 x 255 = 127.5
The fraction won't convert to hex, so you must round your number up or down to the nearest whole number. For example: 127.5 rounds up to 128; 55.25 rounds down to 55.
Enter your decimal value in a decimal to hexadecimal converter, like this http://www.binaryhexconverter.com/decimal-to-hex-converter, and convert your values
If you only get back a single value, prefix it with a zero. For example, if you're trying to get 5% opacity and your going through this process you'll end up with the hex value of D. Add a zero in front of it so it appears as 0D.
That's how you find the alpha channel value. I've taken the liberty to put together a list of values for you. Enjoy!
