Uses I have found while using it are as follows :
First :
Recent past two-three years, a new functionality of middle-wheel key is seen in tabbed user interface.
In most modern browser(which supports multiple tabs), when you middle click on a link, it will open the targeted page in the new tab.
Second :
While surfing internet or reading eBooks (PDFs),
While on the page,
Middle click & hold it, notice the change of cursor, now, whether upwards or downwards, in either direction you move your cursor your page will auto-scroll in that direction, that is called auto-scroll mode of wheel.
