Change Git user in Windows

Problem: How to change Git user in Windows?

Solution:

Step 1: Remove already saved credentials

Go to: Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Manage your credentials -> Windows Credentials

Change Git User in Windows
Windows Credential Manager

Under Generic Credentials, there are some credentials related to Github,
Click on them and click "Remove".

Now you will be asked for new credentials next time.

Reason:

Default installation for Git for Windows set a Git-Credential-Manager-for-Windows.

Either avoid checking "Git Credential Manager" checkbox during the Git for Windows installation

or

You can disable Git-Credential-Manager-for-Windows as follows:

Option 1:

Run Git Bash as Administrator and use git config --edit --system to remove the helper = manager  line so that it is no longer registered as a credential helper.

Option 2:

Run Git Bash as Administrator and then execute the following command

git config --system --unset credential.helper

Now you will be asked for credentials every time you interact with the remote system.

[Update]
Friday, 11 January 2019

Today I faced the same problem again as i updated the software "Git for windows"
&
I couldn't remove the credentials manager by any means

I ended up using below command explained in this git issue

git config --global credential.github.com.useHttpPath true

MySQL Workbench is not opening

After setting up MySQL environment today. I tried to run MySQL Workbench. But it failed to start. It did not show either any error message or any flash screen.

Solution : I came to know that i need to install Visual C++ Redistributable in order to run it. Then there come two options 64 bit or 32 bit installer options. Then being smart, as my system was 64 bit, I installed 64 bit version. But in vain, same thing happened. No error message or not any flash screen.
But then I also installed 32 bit version, which solved the problem.

I end up solving this problem by installing Visual C++ Redistributable 32 bit version.

Did it help you?

Solved: Your PC needs to restart. Please hold down the power button.

Problem : Got an error, while trying to install Windows 8.1 on Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager.

Your PC needs to restart.
Your PC needs to restart.

Environment :
Host OS : Windows 7 Professional.
Oracle VM VirtualBox Manager v4.1.6 r74713
Guest OS : Windows 8.1 Professional.

Analysis : Finding solution for this problem, I found that I need to enable VT-x/AMD-V option in BIOS. I did the same but in vain. Further searching continued. Next finding was that I need to enable "No execute Memory Protection" or "Execute Disabled Bit" under CPU configuration in BIOS again. But this time I couldn't find this option.

I did also try firing following command in VirtualBox installation directory. But even this didn't help me.

VBoxManage.exe setextradata [vmname] VBoxInternal/CPUM/CMPXCHG16B 1

Where vmname can be found by following command
VBoxManage.exe list vms

So up till now nothing worked! :(
But finally got it Solved.
I found that the version of Oracle VirtualBox I am using does not have support for Windows 8.1.
I downloaded the latest(v4.3.6 r91406)  version and selected version in guest OS setting as follows
VirtualBox Settings
VirtualBox Settings
Note : I also enabled PAE/NX option under processor tab of guest OS settings.
Did it work for you?

Error : Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid ?

Try browsing the registry (Start > Run > regedit > OK) to the following value:
Code:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Installer\Products\<ProductSQUID>\

'ProductSQUID' is the ID of the Software.

You'll have to go through the whole list.

Look for 'transform' entry on the registry key that could be created by the installer.
Check if this entry is pointing to a valid Windows installation drive (where Windows is installed, most often the C: drive), and if not, change it.
In my case, I just removed it and error gone, Whats your case?
Did it help?

What is the meaning of term Hibernate?

(Source: wikipedia)

Hibernation in computing is powering down a computer while retaining its state.

Upon hibernation, the computer saves the contents of its random access memory (RAM) to a hard disk or other non-volatile storage. Upon resumption, the computer is exactly as it was upon entering hibernation.

When used to save power, hibernation is similar to sleep mode and saves more power at the cost of slower resumption.

Network Share Credentials Cached In Window Seven

After using one credential (username-password) for network shared resource, we can not use another credential until and unless we logoff and login again.

For this we have to disconnect or delete previous connections to that shared resource

Step1 : Start-> Run -> cmd -> net use * /delete
Above will ask you to delete all previous connection.
Ans with 'Y' to delete.
Again access network shared resource, This will solve your problem .If not succeeded follow second step

Step 2 : Start -> Manage Windows Credentials -> Delete all credentials
Again access network shared resource,
If not succeeded, then reverse steps
(i.e. Step 1 : Start -> Manage Windows Credentials -> Delete all credentials
Step 2 : Start-> Run -> cmd -> net use * /delete)
